# Medical dispute mediation timeline and fee calculator

> The medical dispute mediation fee and timeline tool combines the deadlines in the Medical Dispute Mediation Act with the fee table published by the agency.

The result shows legal maximum periods, not how long a typical case takes. Average processing times will be added from the agency’s yearbook once that snapshot is collected.

## How is the medical dispute mediation fee calculated?

Up to ₩5 million the fee is ₩22,000. Up to ₩50 million, ₩20 is added for every ₩10,000 above ₩5 million.

Above ₩50 million, the formula printed on the agency’s fee page does not match the examples on the same page. Korea Patient Rights Guide therefore shows only the agency’s published examples (₩100 million and ₩300 million); confirm other amounts with the agency. Mediation and arbitration use the same table.

## Which medical dispute mediation deadlines does the tool use?

The 14-day reply, 60-day appraisal, 90-day decision and 15-day response periods set in Articles 27, 29, 33 and 36 of the act.

Some periods do not count toward these deadlines, for example while an objection to an automatic start is being decided. The tool does not model those pauses.

### How much does medical dispute mediation cost in Korea?

The application fee is ₩22,000 for claims up to ₩5 million and rises with the amount claimed, for example ₩32,000 for ₩10 million and ₩162,000 for ₩100 million, according to the agency’s fee page.

### Is there a separate fee for the medical appraisal?

The agency does not list a separate appraisal fee for mediation applicants. Its appraisal fees apply to appraisals commissioned by other bodies such as courts.

### Do I get the fee back if the hospital does not take part?

Yes. If the application is dismissed because the respondent did not agree, the agency refunds the fee in full. If you withdraw, half is refunded.

### Is my input stored?

No. The calculation runs in your browser and nothing is sent or saved.

### Can I pay a lower fee?

The agency reduces the fee by 50% for severe and 30% for non-severe disability, and exempts basic livelihood recipients and registered national-merit persons and their families.
